| Senior Network Engineer Silver Spring, MD Job Description Provides network solutions for all data center systems, including hardware, software, tools, and facilities. Configures and maintains enterprise routers, switches and wide area network (WAN) equipment and software as well as LAN/WAN connectivity. Develops or modifies operating procedures and manuals to solve complex network problems considering network circuits, hardware and protocols, processing platforms hardware and software, and facility systems and cabling. Provides network interface with FDA business owners, OIM organization, contractors, and vendor maintenance organizations. Provides analysis and support to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded network performance. Supports integration and test network activities as hardware or applications are migrated from the development environment to the operational environment. Ensures feedback on network test results, problem resolution, and customer satisfaction. Instructs, directs, and oversees the work of other network personnel. Required Skills - Experience in designing, managing, operating, and maintaining enterprise network systems
- Experience supervising network projects, including the implementation, testing, operations, and maintenance of mainframe, distributed systems, and server-based platforms
- Comprehensive knowledge of LANs, WANs, and commercial networks.
- Extensive knowledge of Cisco IOS, DNS, VRF implementations, dynamic routing protocols, and network protocol analyzers.
- Effective oral and written communication skills for communicating with customers, management and other contractor support personnel.
- Ability to work rotations of 24x7 on-call support, including travel to various locations
- Satisfactory driving record required
Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent experience (10 years experience in networking engineer and design of data networks) |
