VMware System Engineer-Senior

Support a DOD customer by designing, building and administering a consolidated server architecture across several different customer entities.  The architecture should leverage blade servers, virtual machines and storage area network technologies.  Work is performed at a government site at Ft. Meade, MD.   

Responsibilities Include:

• •         ·        Design, deploy and maintain virtual infrastructure solutions based on VMware
• •         ·         Administer, maintain and troubleshoot multiple Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS)  connected to VMWare
• •         ·         Provide support in performance monitoring, back-ups, reporting, problem identification, management, and resolution
• •         ·         Coordinate the establishment of automated processes, run manuals, standard operating procedures and documentation to insure 24/7 system availability
• •         ·         Create and maintain documentation to identify storage hardware, software configuration, and connectivity
• •         ·         Manage storage activity such as planning, installation, operation and maintenance of storage systems, switches and other hardware
• •         ·         Collaborate with other infrastructure engineering personnel to assess near- and long-term capacity needs to achieve on-time service delivery to internal customers 
• •         ·         Create and maintain documentation related to system configuration, application diagrams, processes, and service records
• •         ·         Provide input for disaster recovery and security plans

Required Skills:

• •         ·         Experience with VMware, blade servers and SANs: Including Architecture, Deployment, DR, and Backup
• •         ·         SAN/NAS design and administration experience
• •         ·         Microsoft and/or VMware certifications
• •         ·         Experience with Red Hat Linux
• •         ·         Experience applying VMWare STIGs and familiarity with the DoD IAVA process
• •         ·         Excellent written and oral communication skills
• •         ·         Ability to interact directly and autonomously with customers
• •         ·         Must have CompTIA A+ or Security+ certification required
• •         ·         U.S. Citizenship and final Secret Clearance.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's Degree and at least 10 years experience.
