Description:

Part-time: up to 12 hours/week

Provides skills training and life skills coaching to delinquent and conduct-disordered youth.

Duties:

Provide activities to match the child’s needs as specified by the Program Supervisor.

Facilitate skills training for each child one or more times per week as determined by the Program Supervisor, including: behavior management skills, communication skills, coping skills, problem solving or study skills.

Document each skills training session on the appropriate forms and turn them into the Program Supervisor in a timely fashion each week.

Receive consultation and supervision from the Program Supervisor, attend weekly treatment team meetings. Immediately report emergencies such as runaways, accidents, or medical problems.

Provide hourly respite as designated by the Program Supervisor and transportation for youth as needed as needed or as defined by the Program Supervisor.

Serve as resource and trouble shooter to foster families; maintain motivation and treatment participation of foster parents, ensure good working relationship with foster parents.

Encourage skills to appreciate diversity and supports the capacity of people to grow and change.

Forge mutually respectful partnerships with persons served and their families in which they are helped to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems they face.

Work in partnership with other team members. Establishes strong working relationships with adolescents. Works cooperatively with the Program Supervisor to implement child’s program; accepts supervision; is readily available for consultation; attends meetings and completes assigned paperwork.

Observe children’s behavior and implement behavior management programs on a daily basis. Implement a skills training program as appropriate in order to assist a child in acquisition of new skills.

Demonstrate conceptual understanding of developmentally appropriate behavior for children/adolescents in the home, school and community.

Perform other duties as assigned by Program Supervisor/Program Director.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related field, or a combination of at least two years of work experience and two years of education, training or work experience in the mental health field. Some knowledge of and facility with behavior management principles in creating behavior change is desirable. Valid driver’s license, reliable car, and automobile liability insurance, as well as clearance through the agency to drive.
