Linux System Administrator

Description:

Support a DOD customer by performing work on applications and platforms in DISA's test and evaluation laboratory environments.  Work is performed at a government site at Ft. Meade, MD.   Specific responsibilities Include:

• Installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure
• System administration of multiple, large application enclaves
• System performance tuning and monitoring
• Planning configuration changes
• Software installation and upgrades
• Execution and testing of backups
• Developing  and maintaining installation and configuration procedures
• Performing daily backup operations, ensuring all required files to ensure system data is backed up to the appropriate media
• Security monitoring to identify any possible intrusions
• Following and implementing DoD security requirements  

Skills/Abilities

• Minimum of five (5) years of Linux Server administration experience
• Minimum of five (5) years of Red Hat Enterprise Linux experience
• Red Hat Certification Engineering experience is preferred
• Solaris, SuSE and other Linux distributions experience is a plus
• Windows 2000/2003 is a plus
• Knowledge of Java applications
• Knowledge of VMWare configuration and administration a plus
• Solid experience with multi-server environment / deployments
• Ability to gather requirements, design and implement appropriate solutions
• Strong process oriented experience in terms of implementation and completion
• Must have CompTIA A+ or Security+ certification
• U.S. Citizenship and final Secret Clearance

Education/Experience:

Associates degree and a minimum of eight (8) years of experience.
