Produce Inspector

Description:

2 positions open - one for our RECEIVING DEPARTMENT TO INSPECT PRODUCT as it comes into the building

The second position is for our Warehouse 3rd shift to check product as it is LEAVING the building   

POSITION SUMMARY:

Inspect incoming product for quality, grade and condition. Work closely with other departments regarding food quality and inspections as necessary. 

Duties:

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Check all incoming produce for grade, quality and condition.
  2. Utilize established guidelines to determine quality of product.
  3. Respond to buyer(s) or USDA inspector inquiries.

Poor quality returns: Review poor quality return report nightly; Inspect all poor quality returns and remaining items in Lot, change lot condition codes as needed; Review/revise poor quality credit return codes as needed (based on poor quality we knew, we did not know and no poor quality problem); Communicate poor quality problems with buyer(s).

  1. Notify buyer of inspection results and present recommendations as needed.
  2. Must work safely at all times and comply with all safety policies and procedures.
  3. Maintain cleanliness of warehouse.
  4. Comply with Lancaster Foods LLC policies and procedures.
  5. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. HS Diploma or equivalent.
  2. USDA certified, preferred.
  3. Must be at least 18 years of age to work in warehouse.
  4. A minimum of four years of related experience in produce. Ability to work independently with proven results.
  5. Outstanding quality standards and product knowledge - an understanding of produce terminology and industry standards.
  6. Must demonstrate proficient PC skills.
  7. Must demonstrate satisfactory oral and written communication skills.
  8. Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
  9. Must have own transportation.
  10. Must be able to work a flexible schedule to include holidays and weekends.

 

Must be able to, with reasonable accommodations, lift and carry up 75 pounds, work in temperatures, which range from 28-90 degrees, work in a wet, damp and dusty environment and have the ability to read and understand warehouse documents.
