Support migration from Microsoft Exchange 2007 to 2010 government e-mail system, related servers, and directory services as needed. This includes providing engineering and migration support, researching, planning, implementing, and responding to problems as they arise, whether isolated to a single user or system-wide. It includes design, installation, administration, and tuning the servers as necessary. This includes developing processes and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment. It includes data center work such as cabling and racking of servers. Where applicable, the Senior Exchange Administrator will assist in overseeing the physical security, integrity, and safety of the data center/server farm. The Senior Exchange Administrator may be asked to take the lead on projects or tasks, working with teammates to see the project or task to completion. This position requires frequent, politically conscious, interaction with customer. Specific Responsibilities Include: - Support the migration of an enterprise e-mail system
- Ensure reliable server backups
- Develop, document, and validate approved maintenance plans
- Develop, document, and implement approved engineering efforts
- Develop and test step-by-step instructions for performing maintenance and upgrade tasks
- Perform scheduled weekend and after-hours work, as well as after-hours emergency work, as required, including participation in on-call rotation
Required Skills - Current MCSE, or relevant experience
- Detailed, senior-level working knowledge of Microsoft Exchange 2007 and 2010
- Knowledge of common Network Operating Systems, Desktop Operating Systems, and Email Server Systems, Microsoft Windows Systems, Active Directory, and Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and/or 2007
- Working knowledge of other server-based software packages including Symantec Antivirus, Blackberry Enterprise Server, and NetBackup
- Experience engineering/sizing, installing, configuring, and maintaining windows servers
- Ability to communicate well with team and customer, both written and verbally
- Attention to detail, and excellent time management skills
- Experience with server performance tuning and monitoring tools
- Strong familiarity with TCP/IP protocol, ISA firewall management, and operating system configuration.
- General knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN and NAS, capability programming in a scripting language such as VBScript, Jscript and/or Kixstart.
- Ability to assess performance data and determine system bottlenecks.
- Work effectively both independently and in a team environment
