Description: | Description: This Director of Business Development - Payloads will have responsibility to develop and sales and marketing plan associated with obtaining contracts for Iridium to host secondary scientific payloads on NEXT. The Director will work closely with the EVPs of Marketing, Government Services and NEXT to create and implement the secondary payload strategy for NEXT. The person will work closely with senior US and foreign government officials to identify, create and implement hosted payload programs. Job responsibilities include: - Develop support in the DOD, intelligence and civil EO user community by marketing NEXT hosted payload capabilities
- Develop specific hosted payload missions and work with users to define and document mission requirements
- Extensive interaction with the Group on Earth Observation (GEO) to build international support for NEXT
- Extensive interaction with the Governmental agencies (DOD, Intelligence, NASA, NOAA, NSF, ESA, BNSC, JAXA, CNES) to define a specific program for NEXT
- Extensive interaction with Governmental agencies to build a funding plan for NEXT
- Consult with Congressional Staff to appropriate funds for NEXT
- Develop acquisition strategies, pricing strategies, negotiations and contract plan for NEXT (may be contracts with several different agencies)
- Represent Iridium at industry specific events where support for NEXT can be gained
- Develop appropriate marketing materials associated with NEXT hosted payload opportunities
Requirements: - 15+ years experience in the sales and marketing of complex space programs to Governments
- Familiarity with the Government procurement and contracting process
- Experience with DOD, Intel community, NOAA, NASA, NSF and similar international agencies
- Demonstrated experience in working with senior government officials who are in a decision making position
- International Government sales experience
- B.S. engineering or science, MBA preferred
- TS/SCI security clearance required
- Demonstrated ability to proactively build and manage relationships through effective interpersonal and relationship skills
- Strong communicator (Oral, Verbal, and Written) with ability to persuade individuals and groups.
- Proficiency in English is required and one or more languages is preferred e.g. Spanish
- General computer skills and familiarity with Microsoft productivity software. Ability to come up to speed quickly with company systems, proprietary systems and emerging technology.
- Ability to multi-task, results driven, strong sense of ownership; strong sense of urgency; ability to improvise and solve complex problems and manage with minimal supervision.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, including developing and executing plans and budgets to achieve corporate, functional and personal objectives.
